Wellbeing of the Mind: Ayurveda and Mental Health

Ayurveda offers a pathway for achieving optimum health, which is, a balance of body, mind and senses. In this presentation, Acharya Shunya will discuss Ayurvedic approach to cultivate and maintain a state of mental wellbeing. Specific topics will include:

  • The three subtle energetic states – tamas, rajas and sattva
  • The mind's natural inclination toward sattva – how to claim a calm, clear and focused state of mind
  • How imbalance of the mind caused by unhealthy foods, lifestyle choices and mental habits
  • Excessive states of tamas and rajas that create distortions of healthy mental functioning
  • The gift of healing that comes with recognition of imbalance and firm resolution to dissolve what appear to be static conditions of illness to reveal the balanced qualities of the sattvic mind

The Sangha is a perfect opportunity for beginners as well as advanced seekers to learn practical tips that can be applied in day-to-day living for improved health. Sanghas incorporate lectures, cooking demos and inspirational personal sharing and stories in a fun and easy to learn atmosphere.
