Navratri Celebrations at Vedika Global

Goddess Durga

The nine day Navratri festival was celebrated with usual fanfare at Vedika Global. The Goddess Durga from the Vedic pantheon was ritually worshipped for granting greater sadhana shakti, power of self discipline - tapas; and self confidence- atmavishwas to the students of Ayurveda.

Little girls were worshipped as representatives of the Divine Goddess, and students sought blessings. Most students embarked upon a 9-day cleansing fast and intake of Sattvic foods to not only boost self discipline and strengthen the mind, but also detoxify and support the body during seasonal transitions. As the body anchors in deeper inner powers of conscious choice making, the body smoothly transitions and accommodates to the changing rhythm of the seasons. The experience brought alive the wisdom that underlies what might otherwise have been seen as an Indian religious custom and its relevance in the students' quest to become more attuned to the elements of nature was underlined.
