Vedika Global, Inc. Igniting a community healing and wellness movement with classical Ayurveda

On August 13, Vedika Global had the honor of hosting a traditional Vedic havan or fire ritual, in the garden of Vedika Board member Suhasini Dobrovolny. The ceremony was conducted by Shri Vivek Godbole, an acclaimed Vedic teacher, astrology and yajna expert, along with four of the accomplished students of the traditional Vedic school he heads in Satara, Western India. People sat for hours amongst herb and flower gardens, listening to the resonant Vedic mantras chanted with exquisite pronunciation, along with prayers for good seasonal rain in Calfornia. Shri Vivek gave an illunimating explanation of the rituals, and particularly of the relationship of the nine planets to various parts of the body and of the fire ritual. As they mantras were chanted amidst offerings of ghee and fragrant herbs, the vedika – the altar of sacred transformation that is Vedika Global's symbol – blazed high, as did the experience of our interconnectedness with the elements of nature.

Shri Vivek's four students performed the rituals and chanting with skill and purity, reflecting through their actions the efficacy of the gurukula system and the oral tradition of the Vedas that their education preserves. These young boys who once walked shyly behind their teacher are taking their place amongst the accomplished ones who live the knowledge of this ancient tradition.
