East West is pleased to offer a special series of classes on Ayurveda and the mastery of self-healing with Pratichi Mathur, renowned Ayurvedic scholar, teacher and healer. In this introduction to her November workshops, Pratichi and her senior students will present a compelling overview of the art and science of Ayurveda's proven approach to wellness, including the role of the doshas in healing and prevention, individual dietary needs and lifestyle choices. Beginner’s Sanskrit Instruction and Mantra workshop

Sanskrit is the language of the Rishis, the sages of India. This Sanskrit Beginners Immersion is open to all lovers of Ayurveda, Indian philosophy and spirituality who wish to better comprehend and appreciate the classic Ayurveda scriptures, Vedic chants and transcendental wisdom contained in India's sage tradition. The course aims to provide a thorough introduction to the Sanskrit language, the Devanagari script in which it is written, its pronunciation and basic grammar, and a familiarity with selected key verses and vocabulary from the texts of Ayurveda and the Upanishads. This will enable students to read, write and transcribe Devanagari script, and to recite some key verses in Sanskrit. In this way, it creates a platform for learning, in future classes, and all essential aspects of Sanskrit grammar. The course is designed to teach Classical Sanskrit and so from time to time relevant references will also be made to the history and cultural background of Sanskrit literature. read more
