About Us

Code of Ethics

  1. I will consider Vedika Gurukula, not only my school for studying Ayurveda, Yoga and Vedanta but the Wisdom Home of my Soul. It is here that my body will learn to heal with loving self care of Ayurveda and mind will be nourished with the truth of wisdom from Yoga and my heart illumined with the light of truth contained in Vedanta. Naturally, I will protect my home and take care of it with love, loyalty and selfless service.

  2. I will respect my teacher, my teacher's teachers and their teachers and the entire unbroken chain of teachers and students from time immemorial, as is the Vedic way. I will keep the trust and confidence of my teacher and carry out all work assigned to me for my own growth by my teacher, diligently and joyfully.

  3. I recognize the teacher as a symbol and vessel of wisdom and I repose my faith in my teacher today and teacher tomorrow who, as a torch bearer and  channel of timeless truth will be my guide and support on my journey of self education.
  4. In the presence of my teacher, my posture will always be respectful and I will attempt to be still in body and silent in mind when the teacher talks. I will absorb and internalize my teacher's words, vibration and energy and I will attempt to internalize and "live the knowledge" that is transmitted to me by vowing to follow the Vedic practice of Shravanam, mindful listening; Mananam, mindful deliberation and Nidhi-dhyasana mindful practice.

  5. I will utilize every opportunity to illumine my consciousness by dedicated self study Svadhyaya, and establishment of rigorous self discipline through the fire of Tapas. I will be mindful of the Karma I perform in thought, speech and action….and I take full responsibility for discovering and living up to my Soul's individual and universal Dharma.

  6. I pledge to utilize my education for the welfare of all beings and creatures and mother Earth and I will never violate Dharma or earn money unethically from the education and skills I will receive at the Vedika Gurukula.

  7. I recognize I have been initiated into the path of Brahmachari today which is the path of control of the senses and mind and expansion of the soul to become with the universal soul. I will make every effort to live up to this ideal and towards this end, every morning chant the Gayatri Mantra to purify my thoughts because impure, unloving, self sabotaging thoughts are a breach of the Brahmachari vow. After chanting the mantra, I will apply myself daily to my Vedic studies, fresh in body and mind.

  8. I pledge to remain immersed in studies at the Vedika Gurukula till my education goal has been achieved; and, after I have graduated, I pledge to spread the fiery seed of knowledge in other seekers who are ready. I will end the debt of education upon myself, a humble student today, by becoming a noble teacher tomorrow in the arena of my family, community or this whole world.
