Living of Behavior Ideals at Vedika
Students embody Sadavritta

Sadavritta teachings – Mental, Social and Spiritual health teachings for all round development

Mental health principles and spiritual teachings are important in Vedika’s Gurukula education. The Rishis (sages) were aware that abnormal interpersonal relationships, behavior and thought processes produce stress, which in turn cause body and mind based disorders.

Similarly, in Gurukula education Sadavritta teachings are not a lightweight subject to be memorized for tests. Rather, this knowledge is to be internalized. The Rishis had conceptualized health as gained and nurtured from a life that is lived in balance. The mind and sense organs are well controlled and due respect is given to the immediate environment and natural laws. This enables the creation of a healthy society.

For centuries, Gurukula education incubated sage-like Vaidyas (healers). They were skilled in the exacting science and practices of Ayurveda, adept in the healing art of medicine and reverential to the spiritual landscape. Their philosophy was inherited from the Vedas, and imbued with wisdom from the Darshans (philosophies) and Vidyas (bodies of knowledge) of ancient India. That is why the Vedas and six philosophies are taught and revered inside Vedika Gurukula. Our traditional Purohit (Vedic priest) travels to Vedika Global from India, teaches Mantras (spiritually charged invocations) from the Vedas and conducts Yajnas (fire ceremonies) to bless the journey of studentship.
