Meet the Author
As Vedika’s Director of Branding, Ananta Ripa Ajmera is committed to making Ayurveda understandable and applicable to a diverse, modern audience. Ananta is a Vedika Certified Ayurveda Health Practitioner and Director of Vedika’s Yoga Studies, developing a Yoga teacher training program set to launch in spring 2018. Ananta has taught at Stanford University, California Probation Departments, ABC News, and leading business conferences. Her writing is popular on MindBodyGreen, Elephant Journal, and Huffington Post. Ananta feels inspired to share what she has learned out of profound gratitude to her Guru, Acharya Shunya, whose teachings have awakened her own health and consciousness and thereby changed the course of her entire life.
Ananta first came to Ayurveda after having struggled with years of debilitating eating disorders. Determined to take charge of her health, she searched everywhere for solutions, but could find none. She also suffered from digestive disturbances, insomnia and chronic anxiety. Ananta needed and wanted a truly holistic solution she could understand and benefit from immediately at the levels of body, mind and spirit.
Meeting Acharya Shunya changed everything for Ananta. Within just a couple of weeks, so many of her previously unresolved health issues that no one else could resolve for her vanished, never to return again.
Meeting Acharya Shunya and studying with her was like coming home.
It was as if the Sun had begun to rise in the early morning sky, after a long, dark stormy night.
Ananta feels deeply inspired by how Acharya Shunya taught her that health, in fact, is our birthright - and true state of being. We need simply awaken to that which we truly are.
Being born Indian in America, Ananta used to feel lost, as if there was nowhere she really fit in or could call home. After traveling the world, from East to West - and back again, with Acharya Shunya, she felt she felt like she embarked on the most profound voyage one can ever hope to undertake - a journey to a place where there is nowhere left to go.
She feels grateful beyond words for the unique, loving and inspiring manner in which Acharya Shunya taught (and continues to teach) her Ayurveda, Yoga and Vedanta, to make choices that bring her home to the power, potential and limitless creativity of the Self.
Ananta feels incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to continue to deepen her study of these sciences from the unbroken tradition of Acharya's Shunya's family lineage. She feels a deep connection with Baba Ayodhyanath, Acharya Shunya's grandfather and Guru, as well as Bade Baba Shanti Prakash, who was Baba's father and Guru. These teachers have connected her not only with her own higher Self, but also with her family of origin.
Six months into her Ayurveda studies with Acharya Shunya, Ananta felt amazed to discover that her own late maternal grandfather was also a renowned Ayurveda healer from India, who carried forward a family lineage tradition of Ayurveda healers.
Today, nothing in this world gives Ananta more satisfaction than being able to share the gifts she has received to help our human family experience the power and freedom of taking health into your own hands.
When an editor at Storey Publishing reached out to Ananta requesting her to write an introductory Ayurveda gift book, she felt grateful for the opportunity to share and to ultimately offer the knowledge she has received back to its sacred source.
